150th Open Championship
July 10 - July 17
Excitement is building in the golf world as the countdown is on for the 150th Open Championship to be held over the majestic links of The Old Course in St Andrews.
The oldest and greatest major golf championship being contested on every golfer’s bucket list course.
The Old Course has played host to The Open no fewer than 29 times; most recently in 2015 when newly appointed USA Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson prevailed after a dramatic play-off to secure the famous Claret Jug trophy awarded to The Champion Golfer of the Year.
The Old Course is actually one of seven courses operated by St Andrews Links Trust and the Region of Fife boasts more than 50 golf courses.
For anyone fortunate to be attending The Open or arranging a golf trip to the area in the near future these are some of the very best courses outside St Andrews you should be playing:
- Kingsbarns Golf Links
- Lundin Links
- Golf Club House Elie
- Dumbarnie Links
- Leven Links
In addition another of Scotland’s great Open venues Carnoustie lies only 25 miles north of St Andrews.
